Pentangle Light Garden
September 21st-22nd, 2018
Last year’s Light Garden was a hugely popular and very colorful event! Pentangle invites individual artists and small groups (families, groups of friends, etc.) from the community to participate in the 6th annual The Light Garden. The plan is to line the footpaths of the Green with sculptures, all incorporating lights. We encourage Artists to be imaginative, using recycled materials as much as possible.
Sculptures can be on any theme but must incorporate lights in some way. Lights should be outdoor safe, possibly Christmas lights, LED lights, candles in containers, or string lights used in gardens and patios. No spots or lights of large wattage that could pose a fire hazard are allowed. (Be sure to pre-test the lights right before installation to be sure they are working.) Please bring an extension cord to connect your sculpture to the power source.
This year we have changed size requirements. Sculptures can be any size up to 10 feet x 10 feet x 10 feet. They must be completely weatherproof and able to withstand rain and wind and still function, look good, and be safe for the public. We encourage the use of recycled or repurposed materials.
We also have incorporated voting by the public during the weekend and a People’s Choice Award will be presented on Saturday at 8 pm.
Dates and Deadlines:
If you would like to enter a piece, please fill out the entry form linked below by no later than August 17th, 2018. Spaces are limited, and it is first come, first serve.
Participants must email a description of the sculpture, its approximate size, its title, and your name as you would like it to appear to me no later than September 7th, 2018.
Set-up is Friday afternoon, Sept. 21st beginning at 2:00 pm. All works should be in place and ready to connect to electricity by 6:00 pm.
The Light Garden will be lit on the Friday and Saturday evenings from dusk until 10:00pm.
Clean up takes place on Sunday, September 23rd at 10 am. The village does not allow us to use the trash barrels for materials from the sculptures so please plan to take everything with you
